Dynamic Application Security Testing (DAST)

Dynamic Application Security Testing (DAST)

In-depth automated testing on web applications regardless of how complex targets are.

DAST stands for Dynamic Application Security Testing. It is a type of security testing methodology used to identify vulnerabilities and security weaknesses in web applications and web services while they are running. DAST is sometimes referred to as “black-box testing” because it focuses on testing the application from the outside, without access to the internal source code or architecture.

By using a combination of these testing methodologies, organizations can create a more comprehensive and effective application security testing strategy to identify and remediate vulnerabilities before they can be exploited by attackers.

DAST tools interact with a running application just like a regular user or attacker would. They send various HTTP requests to the application and analyze the responses for security vulnerabilities. This makes DAST particularly useful for identifying issues that can only be observed during runtime.
